1966: Began as Local 86, Seattle WA. union Ironworker at 17 years old with Camblin Steel Service as a permit worker. (During my first 5 years I worked for various rebar contractors including Carmar, Tri-m and Baugh. As a JIW, I have worked at all facets of our trade.) 1969: Began 3 year 6000 hr. Ironworker apprenticeship training.
1971: Graduated from apprenticeship training June
1972: Completed 1 year Welding and Metallurgy class at Green River Community College, Auburn, WA. Currently hold unlimited WABO certifications in SMAW All position manual and FCAW all position Semi-Automatic
1971-1977: Worked at my trade mainly in the King, Pierce counties in all facets including, rebar, welding, raising gangs, foreman position, ornamental, heavy rigging, container crane erection, etc.
1978: Selected by Rigging International, Oakland CA. as Assistant Project Superintendent for the responsibility of assembling and dismantling of the “Taiwan Giant” a twin boom, 2000 ton capacity luffing derrick, which we used to set two 1100 ton RPV’s (Reactor Pressure Vessels) at the Kuosheng Nuclear Power Station, Kuosheng, Taiwan R.O.C. (Republic of China.
1979-1980: Project Superintendent, Rigging International, responsible for assembling and erecting of 1000 ton capacity stiff leg derrick “Carolina Giant” Responsibility’s included rigging, up-ending, hoisting and placing each of the following: two 400 ton RPV’s three 367 ton steam generators, two 250 ton polar cranes (2 units) and three 25 ton accumulators at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant, New Hill, North Carolina for Carolina Power and Light.
1981: Project Superintendent, Rigging International, responsible for loading four 840-ton natural gas pump station modules to be barged from Port Hueneme, CA. to the Bay of Campeche, Mexico. Other responsibilities included; assembly of two 700-ton crawler transporters and welding and securing all modules to the 400’ X 100’ self-ballasting barge.
1982: General Foreman for Lampson Universal Rigging, at WPPSS-Unit 3 Satsop WA. Duties included shared responsibility in the assembly of the 2000-ton capacity Transi-Lift Crane. Continued with direct responsibility in the rigging, up ending, hoisting, and placing one 700-ton RPV and three 750-steam generators. (Project later shut down and mothballed)
